A dynamic workshop with Wendy Goldman Rohm at our private loft in Paris, France. In this dynamic Point of View workshop, Rohm takes writers on an adventure, viewing the world through the various possible lenses of narrative, from first person, to close third person, and the impact of past, present and the illusive subjunctive tense--among other things.
You will learn narrative techniques for eliminating distance between subject and object, creating a riveting and unique view of the world through your characters' eyes, and other methods for tightening up your pages to create a real page turner.
Writers will be invited to read passages aloud from their work, and you will given live exercises to try out the possibilities and make the most interesting choices.
Rohm will teach you how great novelists and nonfiction writers pull it off. From the masters like Colum McCann, Paul Auster, George Saunders, and Jennifer Egan, to the nonfiction gurus Truman Capote, Janet Malcom, John Berendt, Susan Orlean, Tom Reiss, and Tracy Kidder.
You will also explore how P.O.V. impacts narrative voice.
This is a very entertaining seminar. Authors who have participated in Ms. Rohm's global workshops report having major breakthroughs after being stuck for years with a stalled manuscript.
